2021-2022 After-School Program

Jones Paideia Elementary School

STARS basketball, in a partnership with Jones Paideia Elementary Magnet, is meeting weekly with 20 to 25 students (3rd-5th grade).  The two-hour program focuses on impacting kids both on and off the court, with a concentration on:  Academics, Character, and Basketball.  Participants receive after school tutoring from a teacher with STARS Coaches and STARS volunteers assisting.   Academic work is followed by a 10-15 minute character lesson, led by a STARS Coach.  Example topics include:  Respect, Discipline, Attitude, Teamwork, Kindness, and Effort.  Following the character development time is 45 minutes of basketball and skill development.

“The big picture is to provide these kids an opportunity to grow (academically; in character; their love for the game of basketball) and to hopefully get them integrated into STARS Basketball.  We have been praying for this for a while and really feel the Lord’s hand on it.  I know the impact STARS has had on both South and North Nashville athletes, and I am so excited about what God is going to do through our efforts in Metro Nashville!”
